FROM THE DEPTHS OF KATHERINE EAST, MC & KAYOSS (PK) WERE K-TOWN'S INFAMOUS RAP DUO
After years of making underground tracks with childhood friends for the love of it, MC & Kayoss (PK) realised their passion to be hip-hop artists was exceeding what society expected of them, forming the name & basis of NLTR...
Slowly chipping away at their style and forming a unique sound that was drawing attention, they were introduced to mentors Dion & Nellie (IHHP) through older brother Willie & close friend Mike.
After a few interactions, MC & Kayoss (PK) were given a chance to make their first professional track through the IHHP fam... So they invited a few friends to join them on "KTOWN - Shadows" which drew a lot of attention and won them their first music award at the NT Song of the Year Awards - taking out the over-all People's Choice in 2016.
This lit the fire & kick started a journey for NLTR (guided from afar by Dion & Nellie), and MC & Kayoss (PK) took the given opportunity to express & share their lyrical talents on their first EP... First meeting up with the IHHP fam in Maningrida, they worked with producer Aman to create the beats & sound of the EP...
It wasn't too much longer before the duo was in the car with their Uncle Tommy on the way to CAAMA studios for their first amount of real studio-time... Given less than a total of 20hrs to get it done, the pair were in their elements & firing on all cylinders to blaze through 5 tracks over 5 days... They then went on to perform in places like Adelaide & Darwin - to whatever crowds they drew, opening shows for artists like Sean Kingston, Bow-Wow, and more.
Eventually flying down to Melbourne to the IHHP fam to record a music video for their EP, and without knowing, they were also given the chance to jump in the booth to create their final track as NLTR - Make It Through feat. local Victorian singer: Zara...
